Among many other projects, Made In Space has partnered with NASA to launch the first 3D printer to the International Space Station in 2014.

 Job Overview:

+ Create test stand concepts, fabrication drawings, wiring schematics, and instrumentation lists
+ Design and analyze structures, fluid systems and mechanisms
+ Supervise the integration of test stands including fabrication, mechanical assembly and data/control systems
+ Operate test stands with great attention to detail. (Structural tests have very little margin for error, so attention to detail is a crucial and essential characteristic of a structural test engineer.)
+ Performing wiring schematics

Qualifications:

+ B.S. in an engineering related discipline is required
+ At least one year of experience using CAD software
+ Hands-on internship, lab, or project experience involving aerospace systems and/or advanced manufacturing systems
+ Excitement about space and a startup environment
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Must be a “U.S. person” as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15)
+ 2-5+ years experience

Preferred Skills and Experience:

+ Experience with Unigraphics (NX)
+ Experience doing finite element analysis (FEA)
+ Data acquisition and controls experience
+ Test experience
+ Hands-on design and fabrication experience
+ Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion
+ Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
+ Experience with 3D printers
